Tojo got into skating trying his brother's Logan Earth Ski back in 1977, practicing tic-tacs in their garage. His first visit to Kona in ‘81 sparked a lifelong love for smooth hills and curved walls. His style grew at iconic spots like Cedar Crest, the Turf, and Nude Bowl throughout the '80s. While many drifted away from skating in the early '90s, Tojo only pushed harder. He spent a year on the road between ‘93 and ‘96, and picked up surfing in ‘94 giving his skating a whole new flow. At 50, Tojo finally nailed fast plants—his last big trick.
